Dinner Meeting: “Playing Fair” is Different in Every Business Family

What does "Playing Fair" mean in your business family?

Ted Lentz, G4 President, Lentz Milling, took a different path into their family business, leaving a successful consulting career at the Advisory Board Company in 2005 to join the family business, despite his father's discouragement.

Quick to learn from others, Ted has worked intentionally to professionalize the business and has built a new team and implemented a compensation program and formed an advisory board. Ted takes his advice to heart:  Free up time to work ON your family business, not just in it.

Also learn from Consolidated Scrap Resources, a family business that is one of the very few companies in the United States that have played a continuous and integral role in recycling for more than 100 years.

Learn how Richard, G3 Chair/CEO and son Ben, G4 President, have made the tough decisions (including Ben’s journey from working as an attorney to leading the family business) and have discovered different guiding principles on the multi-generational journey, allowing them to take the best parts of  their family business forward into the next generation.
