Dave Griffith has had more than a few crucial conversations – a few with himself, at least two with his wife, and with many organizational and family leaders. Learn from a leader who enjoys sharing his leadership scar tissue around family business governance, where relational and organizational complexity abounds.
Dave will distill lessons learned from four decades of leadership hits and misses in family business, corporations large and small, and non-profits where he enjoyed a measure of success. Dave is passionate about naming reality, finding the best talent, working hard at being a “best” listener, and spending time in the most meaningful ways.
After learning from sevearl executive positions at IBM, ROLM, and MCI, in 1993 Dave was recruited to serve as President for his father-in-law’s business Modern Group, Ltd., where he now serves as board chair. Dave also serves as board chair or director for several other family businesses including JJ Haines Company, Delaware Valley Floral Group, Verus, Mountain Laurel Spirits and Hoober, Inc.
A nationally recognized speaker on issues of Leadership, Governance, and Family Business, Dave is a guest lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania, Temple and Rutgers. Currently, Dave is the Executive Director and Head Coach of Episcopal Community Services in Philadelphia, a large non-profit in the city, focused on the issues of intergenerational poverty and solutions and advocacy that work in this space.
Married for 40 years, Dave and Jackie are the parents of two grown children. When not working, you can find Dave on the Beaverkill fly fishing.
